Joining us today is the amazing Charity Haderlie, who helps women live true to their dreams through coaching, keynoting, published works and events.

After battling deep depression and social anxiety in her early 20’s, she began to dive into the world of personal development and mindset. As she applied what she was learning, her life was transformed from the inside out.

Several years ago, people began asking her to tell her story, asking for advice so they could have more confidence, clarity and connection in their lives.  These opportunities have grown into a coaching business, which leads women to break through the obstacles that hold them back and empower and transform their own lives. Read how she did it below.

INTRODUCTION

PLEASE TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND THE BUSINESS YOU STARTED.

Hey there!  I’m a mom to 4 amazing kids ages 10-20, and a personal development & mindset coach. From battling deep depression and social anxiety to becoming an accomplished speaker and published author, I’ve learned a thing or two about transforming the mindset and becoming more connected, confident and whole.

What I love most is helping women break through obstacles that prevent them from going after what calls to their heart. You know what I’m talking about–those desires that are dismissed when we feel too small, undeserving, or scared out of our mind to go after them. We’ve all felt that way, I have too!  I’m honored to play a role in helping women through the process I have found that transforms lives!

I believe that when we empower women, we empower our families, businesses and communities.  When we empower women, we empower the world!

WHAT DOES YOUR TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE AND HOW DO YOU STAY PRODUCTIVE?

My days vary, but my favorite things to do are working with clients, writing articles, creating programs (just launched a 30 Day Mindset Boot Camp!), or following up with people I meet– connecting with others.  My least favorite things to do are bookkeeping & organizing paperwork. Ha ha!  But I don’t do as much of that myself anymore so that is really great!!

I have my youngest 3 kids home due to the quarantine so things have been turned upside down!  However, I’ve enjoyed playing with them more, waking up earlier to get things done before they are up, and I’ve also been intentional about taking a good nap or having a cleansing cry, when needed.  😉

To me, crying is just “spring cleaning of the heart, mind and soul”  and for some reason, that message has been needed for many women as we are trying to be strong and productive.

I also love jumping on the trampoline with the kiddos, but my bladder can only handle so much these days.  😂

THE JOURNEY SO FAR

PLEASE DESCRIBE THE PROCESS OF LAUNCHING YOUR BUSINESS.

One day a friend told me she wanted me to speak at her women’s group.  I said, “Um. . . I have 3 little seven-minute speeches, I’ll be ONE of your speakers, which topic do you want?”  She said, “No.  I want you for the WHOLE HOUR!  I’ve heard pieces of your story.  Our women need you! I can FEEL it!”

I was shocked and tried to get out of it.  Then I turned it to God.  “What do you want me to say?  I don’t have much to offer. . . do I?”

As I pondered and opened my heart, I discovered that those 3 little speeches I had practiced and given over and over again at a public speaking club (that I joined just to gain more confidence) were three significant parts to my first hour-long presentation!  It’s interesting how God, or the Universe-whatever it is to you, prepares us in little steps that eventually work together in ways we couldn’t see!

That presentation went so well that I was referred and invited over and over again to various women and business groups.  I saw the need for this and eventually created my own events, landed a TEDx spot, then published my book,  expanded to coaching and so much more!  I didn’t set out to be a speaker or coach.  I was content to be a back-row joe.  But, life has a way of preparing us if just say yes to the opportunities, and trust we can figure it out, even though we will make a lot of mistakes along the way!

As a first-generation entrepreneur and one who broke the cycle of a fear-based mindset, I am honored to help women (and men, too, but I market largely to women) so that they can show up in life on their terms.  If I can do this, I can teach anyone what I’ve learned so they can have more confidence, clarity and feel more connected to the awesomeness that is already inside!

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT AND YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE SINCE YOU STARTED YOUR BUSINESS?

The biggest achievement has been that I learned to drop all the garbage I had believed about myself and step into my own power.  Also that I am still me.  I haven’t lost touch with my roots and how far I’ve come.  That’s something I was worried about because I’ve seen people succeed and then think they are “too good” or become so full of themselves.  But, I recognize that I’m still on the journey of personal development and will always learn something new every day!

The biggest challenge as an entrepreneur was feeling like an imposter.  No one “crowns” you as an expert or an entrepreneur.  No one gives you credibility.  Your journey is your credibility.  Learning that and how to integrate my sense of humor and quirks online as much as I do in person when I speak, is something I’m working on as well.

WHAT STRATEGY DID YOU USE TO GROW YOUR BUSINESS? AND HOW?

Offering speaking for free and then selling my book and coaching packages.  Also face to face marketing is what filled my events and I’m converting some of my events into courses so I’m excited for that!  I am currently taking an online marketing course so that I can continue to expand even further!

WHAT IS YOUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE OF BUSINESS?

Since my event was cancelled this year, I shifted and created an online boot camp and have been super pleased with how that has impacted my students!!

I plan to expand and hire a full team and build a coaching brand of my own as well as various online courses.

RECOMMENDATIONS & FINAL THOUGHTS

ARE THERE ANY RESOURCES OR TOOLS YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH OTHERS THAT HAVE HELPED YOU RUN YOUR BUSINESS?

I’ve used Calendly and Mailchimp to get started.  You don’t have to have it all figured out, just begin!

WHAT OR WHO HAS BEEN YOUR GREATEST INFLUENCE IN BUSINESS AND WHY?

Listening to the stories of entrepreneurs saying “I don’t know what’ I’m doing. I wasn’t sure, but I just kept going, etc.” helped me get started.  I realized I felt exactly as they do, so much uncertainty, so why wouldn’t I start too?  Stories are powerful.

I also love the books “Peak Performance“, “Rest” by Alex Pang, and the book “Indistractable“.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHER WOMEN WHO WANT TO START THEIR OWN BUSINESS?

You will never have it all figured out so don’t wait.  Just start.  My branding is still evolving, but my impact is already growing because I didn’t wait. I just started.

“Confidence and clarity don’t come before you take action, they come because you take action.” – Me, one of the quotes in my book.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE WITH OUR READERS?

I believe in you.  Do you?  You are the only one who is responsible for believing in yourself and taking action.  Our best teachers in life are mentors and mistakes.  Mistakes are stumbling blocks until we see them as a lesson, then they become a stepping stone.
