PLEASE TELL US ABOUT YOURSELF AND THE BUSINESS YOU STARTED.
Hi, my name is Carrie Anne Yu. I am a China marketing strategist, profit strategist, global speaker, and a Top 10 Wechat Influencer in Hong Kong District.
I was born and grew up in Hong Kong. My first job after graduation was as a primary school teacher, then I worked in one of the longest-running overseas educational groups in Hong Kong in a manager position, and after only 3 months I became a vice-principal. This proved to be one of the most challenging times of my career, as I took responsibility to help my new company get out of an HKD 5 million (around USD $640,000) debt.
With no previous experience in business or marketing, I had to work hard to weigh all the strategies that could turn the company from loss to profit. However, in only one year, I was able to create an amazing result for this educational group. Not only was I able to get the company out of the red, but the CEO told me I had created a record revenue that brought the company into its most profitable year in its 15-year history.
As a result of my efforts in 2013 and 2014, MediaZone named this company as one of the most valuable companies of the year in 2015. Over the following 5 years, the CEO invited me back to work for him every year; however, after my time with this educational group ended, I traveled for a while to explore more possibilities in my career and then began my self-employment journey.
During these past years, I’ve focused on business consulting and training for Fortune 500 companies. I published a book, Create Lifetime Loyal Customers, to share marketing insights with business leaders. I’ve been able to share my knowledge of business management in presentations all over China. Meanwhile, my content on the Wechat social media platform has reached an audience of over 100,000, and I was recognized as one of the Top 10 Wechat Influencers in the Hong Kong district. Additionally, I’ve been honored to be interviewed as a guest on GuangDong TV in 2017 and 2019.
As a speaker, I’ve had the chance to speak both locally and around the world—in 2019, I visited 8 countries. Travelling excites me because it gives me the chance to connect with thought leaders, business owners, and entrepreneurs around the world. I love empowering people to start and grow their dream businesses, no matter how big or small. I’m grateful for the trust that many business owners and entrepreneurs have placed in me as a profit strategist. Following my consultation, many businesses that have been struggling for over a year have seen success in just a few months.
My experience has allowed me to start my own company, Yu Ignite Ltd, which helps foreign businesses enter the Chinese market effectively. We also provide marketing solutions and business growth training, in one-on-one or group environments.
I’ve created a few online courses to empower people to start a business, in English and in Cantonese.

WHAT DOES YOUR TYPICAL DAY LOOK LIKE AND HOW DO YOU STAY PRODUCTIVE?
My typical day always starts with morning meditation after which I start working. I drink around 3L of water daily to stay healthy. I get enough sleep and do meditation in order to stay productive.

After I left the educational group in 2014, I realized I have the potential to help more people and companies to grow businesses.
I started my own business because working as an employee is not as fun as being a business owner.
The business name “Yu Ignite” I just picked randomly. “Yu” is my last name, and “I ignite the fire for the businesses to grow”. Sounds energetic, I love it.
I started Yu Ignite from scratch with just a few thousand dollars. I never had a partner but I have a team that works with me in China. My clients are happy with my services.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT AND YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE SINCE YOU STARTED YOUR BUSINESS?
Biggest Achievement: My biggest achievement is getting the trust of our clients, and creating a good result for them.
Biggest Challenge: The biggest challenge I have to overcome is how to keep the quality of services and scale my own business at the same time.
WHAT STRATEGY DID YOU USE TO GROW YOUR BUSINESS? AND HOW?
I created my own system to grow my business: branding clarification, creating the right marketing strategies, connecting effectively with the right people and new opportunities, and by using effective closing skills.
WHAT IS YOUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE OF BUSINESS?
I love the business model I have right now. Those who work with me are comfortable working online. My goal is to do more online consultations and coaching and at the same time help more businesses enter China market effectively. I love running my business online and sometimes speaking in events offline.
My goal is to continue to work happily, create a result that will make my clients happy and at the same time keep those who work with me also in a happy working mood.
Profitability and happy work with the like-minded people is the most important thing in my business.

Create your own product to sell, no matter big or small.
I have created a few online courses (digital products) and I teach people how to create one that has the market. Thanks to the Internet, we have more opportunities to reach out to the world, generate income and impact the world at the same time.
WHAT BUSINESS IDEA DO YOU HAVE THAT YOU ARE WILLING TO SHARE WITH OTHERS?
Recently I have created 3 online courses that are enabling people to generate more revenue in their business or to start a business from scratch:
1. Online course I partnered with Spendless Academy “How to create an online course, generate 5-6 figure income without paid ads (English version)” is suitable for those who have some skillsets (eg. cooking, baking, design, gardening, golfing, etc) that they want to share with the world and at the same time generate income from teaching. This is a good start for anyone even you have a full time job but want to generate side income!
2. The above online course in Chinese version (coach in Cantonese)
3. “4C Profit Increase Matrix” – I created this system to help people bring rapid growth to their businesses. By following 4 simple and effective steps, business owners can gain profound insights and bring unprecedented increases in revenue, no matter how big or small of your business, or even you just thinking to start one!
